The Sadness of being a Soldier

Sacrifice is sorely what you are
Lives at stakes, in danger every time
Enemies all around ready to fight

To maimed, to behead, to take your life

Bravery, courage and faith in God
In your pocket is what resides
Families at home with broken hearts

Anxious unhappy but totally proud

Is it worth the sweat, the bitter tears

Of sleepless nights when trouble nears
Of broken bones and both lost limbs

Of dying comrades in your care

My country, my land, my love
To you my life forever I trust
To serve, to give and to sacrifice

Like Jesus did on that cross for us

So sad is the plight of these fighters

Salary too small for all what matters
What then could be done to treat them

Like heroes nailed on the cross for their brethren

Gone are their spirits, died in horrible ways

Prayers and pity are not enough to appease
To heal the hurt, to tranquilize, to patch

To overcome the pain, to beat this grief so vast...

My husband was once a soldier, so this poem strikes a chord... His b-day will be in a few days :) The person who's always there for his family comes rain or shine. We're blessed esp. Michael :)

The Ever Glorious Golden Sunset :)

By the bay, with hands interlocked
Sitting by are two lovers in love
Long black hair, his hands on her shoulders
Gazing with awe at this splendor like no other

The sun bringer of hope and the light
Just like crystals which shimmer so bright
No darkness, no hopes that are cut
Only new beginnings, a spring delight

No creatures on earth can live or thrive
In deep darkness so 'creepy' so sad
But splashed with rays of one magical sun
All sorrow's gone only smiles reign abundant :)

ILLUSIONS

Years ago beneath a blue umbrella sky
Dreamt of plucking feathers of an eagle flying by
Drifting slowly under dusky clouds
Falling gently behind a hill in an isolated house

Imaginary silhouettes of sounds and sights
Drum beating loudly as a lonely guitar smiles
Simple shadows of silk that shines
Paperless trails and wordless whines

Simmering sunshine edges that canopy
Raindrops dripping a drudgery
Sinking snowflakes softly landing in a tree
Not to be noticed, one never to see

Countless hours, numerous wasted nights
Wondering what the future will provide
Gentle sighs, untrue lullabies
Fakeries, man-made, unnatural

Merely illusions, yes they are
Imaginary memories in our minds
False, not funny, floating freely
In disbelief and with trickery

Wiser, luckier and relieved
God sent truth had prevailed
Life goes on with baited breath
Awaits tomorrow at its best...

More impatiens' blooms... :)

Cute bundles of colorful blooms that are impatiently growing. Love them :) Pics taken from The Shrine of the Little Flower Church, St. Therese... and the pink roses too :>

Precious Life

Heavy and difficult days, right
Carrying an unborn love child
Your precious little bundle of joy
Couldn't wait to see him out soon

Schools, diaper change, little leagues
Bike rides, preparing lunch meals
For your tiny ones, little tykes
As days and years went so fast

As sudden as a blowing wind
As loud as a roaring train
Your child grew big and a man
Who thinks he's better than you are

Now grown leaving you all alone
Like a bird with wings of its own
Settling far away from home
In search of fame in a balloon

Cupid's love invaded his world
Of ladies all around whirled
Just wait if he has the best
The one who won't make him break

An angel, a star, a saint
A loving kind and sweet
A heart that's true and light
A soul that brings delight

This is all a mother could wish
For her then little child's world's trip
That no one will bring him shame
Either a lady love or in his career

To sustain a smile in this life
To keep that now not so little head's up
To make him brim with pride
As he travels this universe so wide...

Thanks for your visit :)

Flying with the Wind

Warmer breeze blowing by the bungalow
Swaying branches of a birch tree below
A bird flew by, its nest torn apart
By the wind winding down its path

Little birds chirping soulfully
House of twigs all gone astray
Whisked by the wind smashed, thrashed
Shredded to pieces scattered, crashed

Colorful kites hovering above
Children running just to catch
Tight rope released, free at last
Let that kite be in its path

Life on earth is just flying with the wind
Traveling in full speed where in
Just like time, it passes by
Don't be left by yourself wondering why

Grab that chance that God provides
It may not be here on another time
Now is due, today is hot
Tomorrow may not be here for us

Go now then and fly with the wind
For who knows if it may take you there
In that land of wishes and of dreams
Where fulfillment, peace and happiness is real... :)

A simple soup recipe to soothe your soul

Asparagus-Corned Beef Noodle Soup
Ingredients:
1 can of corned beef
1 bundle of fresh asparagus, sliced into 2 inches length, or 1 canned if you don't have it fresh
1 medium package bean thread noodles, same as sotanghon
1 tbs fine sliced ginger
8 garlic cloves, smashed
1 medium size onion, chopped
3 tbs olive oil

In a heated pan, saute the garlic for a minute then add the onion and ginger, cook for a minute or two until they're soft. Add the corned beef and mix until it separates into smaller pieces, cook for 3-5 minutes. Then add 6-8 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then add the noodles and asparagus. Seasoned with fish sauce or patis and vetsin to taste. Voila! A delicious and hearthy soup for you. Try it for it's good. I guarantee :) I love pastas and noodles. Pansit, spaghetti and palabok are favorites. I like to cook and to eat them, and this is quite often :>

The Story that Matters

In life people come and go,
God placed them there in front of you
To test your faith, to help, to make you realize
What kind of a person you really are deep inside

Stories, memories are made these
Of someone that suddenly appears in your face
Beware for false pretenses that hovers around
To drown you down in that abysmal ground

Truth prevails always at the end
For lies are fakes it deceives but fails
Stories of travails that sound like real
Are still worth hearing for you truly cared

God always shows us the way
He guides, directs the truth to a story
Just listen, ask, then hope and pray
What you want in life will be on its way

When God is added to the equation
You will never be lost in oblivion
Your life laced with miracles from His throne

That glorifies, brings smile to your very own soul... :)

At Coney Island with J.C. :)

Dropped by at St. Therese first. Inside is a two part church. A big wide church and a small chapel for this saint. Also called as the Shrine of the Little Flower Church. We always try to visit as often as we could :)

Just a glimpse of that glory...

At the Shrine of the Little Flower Church, St. Therese, with just a two day auto-affair, a 16 mile stretch of a hi-way, with about only an hour and a half of attendance, we really missed a lot of the old glories here, laughs. Oh well, but at least I captured some to park in my memory journal for all? as if there are any, laughs, to see... (^_~)... :> and the last red car here has a similar back design as my white Chevy Camaro then, my first car ever :) pls. click pics to enlarge as usual...

The cars went on...
