7.0 magnitude earthquake hits Haiti

"the sky is gray and covered with dust" one described the place immediately after the quake. a hospital collapsed and people are screaming for help while there are wailing and crying in the streets, one resident said. it is a catastrophe with magnanimous proportion since the epicenter is just 10 miles of the capital Port Au Prince which is densely populated. the buildings there do not even compare in safety to the oldest buildings in California. even the new buildings there are not built in earthquake safety specifications as required in those buildings in California. so a lot here in the U.S. fear for the worst. like the lost of lives in this place, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, the first republic. they really do not need this devastating event. let's pray for the population of Haiti and hope for the best...
