If You Forget Me... by Pablo Neruda

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour, I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine...

now this is really "the" poem :) ...no wonder, a Nobel Prize...ala pablo neruda, here's my take...yes, i am dreaming and pls. don't wake me up, laughs.

"valentine, here i am"

i want us to stop
and listen to the splashing waves for once
as we stroll on the shifting sands of time
the ticking hands of the clock
that never goes back
as it winds and leaves
it ticks like a beating heart
as lovers caress, hug and kiss
are we here now or just millions
and billions of sounds apart

we can not tell
the shadows are just shades
of black cocoons of hidden butterflies
that are just dormant, asleep
as silence prevailed each passing nights
in an unending dreamless universe
until dawn, until morning comes

we open our eyes
the beach is gone
covered by the rushing tide
the sands so white
is now nowhere to be found
as we held hands looking
at that empty space above
no sun, no moon, no stars
no birds, no kites
the sky is black
as we hear the wind
as it silently plays with the grass
as its blades rustle and dance
it is the only music that we have
the moving waves
the swaying grass
are just barely keeping us alive

and now the beach is gone
but only for awhile
only to come back again
same time, same place
somewhere
is this deserted land
that we found each other
as we repeat this sad story
of our lives over and over
until death do come to us

life after all ends
life after all yelds
life after all is just us
birds in search of paradise
that is nowhere to be found

for valentine is just a figment
of the mind
as love is like the sun
it is hot at noon
but it will be cold at dawn
as the sun will rise
the moon will sleep
and the stars will
have to wait
to show their traits
of twinkling forever in our midst...

as we each catch our valentines asleep...

happy love day you all... enjoy life, make it always a valentine's day :)
