ART and AUTISM

Erin Crowe in the CNBC studios with her final portrait of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. An eBay auction of a portrait of Alan Greenspan by artist Erin Crowe, with proceeds to benefit Autism Speaks, ended Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, with a winning bid of $150,400. Crowe painted her final portrait of the outgoing Federal Reserve Board Chairman live on cable TV network CNBC, beginning with a blank canvas on CNBC's "Squawk Box" and completing the painting during CNBC's "Closing Bell." Visit the eBay auction site.For the last several years, Crowe, a 24-year-old University of Virginia graduate, has been painting portraits of Alan Greenspan. Last year, Crowe displayed her oil-on-canvas portraits of Greenspan at a family friend's gallery in Sag Harbor, Long Island, in hopes of earning some extra money. Several paintings were sold but a frenzy started last August after her works were featured on CNBC. Since then, money managers and others in the financial industry have been calling Crowe from all over the country, looking for the Greenspan portraits. Click here for about more about CNBC.
