Adrift abandoned and lost
A man floating alone afar from coast
Body parched and baked
By the sun's scorching burning rays
Rescuers above passed him by
A tiny speck of sand, a faint muted cry
Down in despair he closed his eyes
'Almost' he said but that's just not enough
Leaning in a tree in a church backyard
An old battered poor woman carries a child
Disfigured, dirty, sick and tired
Their arms thrown out reaching for alms
Countless nameless faces gently walk
Passing these hapless creatures as they talk
Amidst silent sobs but full of hope
But no one even 'almost' dare to help or stop
Almost there, if this could have only been that
Anyone of us may have help a life
Almost, just isn't really enough
To save a life or to change a life...
And I'm just as guilty as the rest, at times, sad...
